Dictionary Definitions

The purpose of this project was to illustrate the definition of these words through the solo use of typography, limited to the letterforms of the word itself. This project had a very general audience, which is why we had to ensure that our illustrations communicated the definition in a clear manner. The final deliverable was printed out on 11x17, and mounted on black illustration board.

THE PROCESS

I started off with eight words, and designed eight variations of each word. After identifying three strong concepts, I further explored and created more variation. Next, I added colour and experimented with how different colours evoked different feelings. Finally, I added the definition text and ensured hierarchy in its typography.
